Pike Pool

Pike Pool, Beresford Dale
The River Dove runs through Beresford Dale before entering Wolfscote Dale and Dovedale. Beresford Dale is associated with Isaac Walton and his friend Charles Cotton, and the Walton's famous book "The Compleat Angler". The pillar of rock (to the left of the photo) is the "pike" after which the pool is named. Charles Cotton lived in Beresford Hall, above the dale, and built a fishing house in 1674 for use by himself and his friend Isaac.
